Huelva presents the image of the BWF World Championships that highlights the light and strength of the city

The image of this great event has been discovered in the event held in the Plenary Hall of the Huelva City Council, which, in addition to the host and mayor Gabriel Cruz, was attended by the president of the Spanish Badminton Federation (FESBA), Andoni Azurmendi , the general director of Sports of the Junta de Andalucía, Isabel Sánchez, and the president of the Andalusian Federation of Badminton (FAB), Carlos Longo.

In an event with limited capacity by the Covid prevention regulations, in which the Organizing Committee of the BWF World Championships Huelva 2021, the different political parties and badminton clubs were represented, there was also the triple world champion and Olympic gold medal, Huelva Carolina Marín, who sent a message from the High Athlets Center in Madrid and invited all the fans to help him through the social networks of the FESBA to name the mascot.

The mayor of Huelva highlighted the climate of “emotion and pride for what we are capable of doing in this land” and addressed “the launch of a historical event that offers us the opportunity to show ourselves to the World with capital letters, by being one of the sporting events that draws the most people. The most beautiful thing is that this is everyone’s dream. An initiative that from the first moment has had the support of the entire municipal corporation unanimously”.

With an indirect global impact estimated at 240 million euros, this important event “will mean a turning point in one of the objectives that obsess us: the promotion of the city abroad,” said Cruz, who remarked that “we are looking forward to knowing our light, gastronomy, history, heritage, our beach, our climate and, above all, our good people. Because Huelva has to be experienced and we want those who visit us for the BWF World Championships to let themselves be carried away and feel like an integral part of the city”.
