Toyota Spain is the official mobility supplier and sponsor of the Badminton World Championships 2021, tournament that takes place at the Carolina Marín Sports Palace of Huelva during the month of December and that will gather the best players of the world.
As part of the agreement, Toyota will be responsible for transfering the athletes, players and staff members with a fleet of 12 hybrid electric vehicles.
The synergy between Toyota and badminton dates back to 2018, when the company started to sponsor the Spanish Badminton Federation (FESBA) and her ambassador, Carolina Marín, olympic champion and three times world champion. In this way, this new collaboration goes one step further in supporting this energetic, fast and honest sport by partnering with the greatest badminton tournament and one if the five more important events in the world.
The fleet that accompanies FESBA at the World Championships is made up of three Toyota Corolla Electric Hybrid, two Toyota RAV4 Electric Hybrid, one Toyota C-HR, one Toyota Camry, one Toyota Prius and four Proace. It consists of a very versatile range because of its habitabilty, large loading capacity and its eficiency and driving comfort thanks to its hybrid electric motorization in most of the car models.
Besides, FESBA already has a Proace Verso Shuttle to add to this fleet at the World Championships of Huelva as result of the agreement between Toyota Spain and FESBA, that supports the Spanish squad in their transfers to tournaments and trainings, as in the federation’s promotional events.
The Badminton World Championships are a huge global event that, around the tournament dates, can gather more than 30.000 visitors, 650 athletes of 35 different nationalities, and reach 614 million of homes around the world through different multimedia platforms. In Spain this event will also manage to get an amount of 55 million impacts.
During the tournament, Toyota will be present online, at the Carolina Marín Sports Palace and at the Fan Zone with a Toyota stand where you will be able to discover at first hand the hybrid electric car models that the federation counts on.
Besides, Carolina Marín, ambassador of the Toyota Team, will be at the Toyota’s stand at the tournament’s Fan Zone to sign autographs and give one of her competition dresses away. The date will be the next Friday 17th of December, at 18.00h.

‘Badminton+ by Toyota’
It is remarkable that Toyota Spain and FESBA have also been collaborating before at other federation’s projects such as the programme ‘Badminton+ by Toyota’ that promotes badminton and sports values at school centres of the different Spanish autonomous comunities.
The programme ‘Badminton+ by Toyota’, that in its fourth campaign, in spite of the Covid situation, reached almost 300 school centres and 70.000 students, is based on the implementation of FESBA’s strategic plan to increase the practice and affiliation with our sport.

Spanish Badminton Federation (FESBA)
It is the main promoter of badminton in Spain since 1983 and it is organization in charge of the management and promotion of all the different events in this sport: single events and doubles events.
Besides representing the Spanish sport around the world with great international leading figures such as the olympic champion Carolina Marín and the three times olymipc athlete Pablo Abián, FESBA also organises its own national and international competitions, like the Spanish Open or the Spain National Championships at all ages.
